Hume Volunteer Gateway: an online tool for finding volunteer opportunities

Become a Garden Guide

Become a volunteer Garden Guide

If you love nature or gardening, then consider becoming a volunteer Garden Guide in Council’s Gardens for Wildlife program. Looking for friendly people to do garden visits and help prepare reports, where you’ll provide suggestions, encouragement, and resources about wildlife habitat gardens.

We visit people across Hume City, going to homes, schools, pre-schools, businesses, and organisations. You can choose to do one-hour garden visits in certain suburbs, and only on the days that suit you. Plenty of training materials available online, with peer-to-peer support provided, and build your confidence doing tag-along garden visits with experienced volunteers.

Over 100 garden visits have been done since 2022, and all participants are very satisfied being part of Gardens for Wildlife and helping nature.
