Coffs Harbour Shelter - Cattery Assistant
Volunteer Cattery Assistant – RSPCA NSW Coffs Harbour, 25 Dowsett Road Coffs Harbour NSW 2450
If you're the kind of person who thinks cats make everything better, we have great news: we need you.
Our shelter is looking for caring, compassionate volunteers to join our cattery team. You'll play a vital role in the daily care of the cats and kittens in our shelter — keeping their environment clean, comfortable, and stress-free. For many of our cats, especially those who are shy or scared, a calm and consistent routine is exactly what they need to feel safe. That might sound simple, but it makes a world of difference.
What you'll be doing:
- Cleaning enclosures and litter trays alongside our animal attendants
- Providing fresh food and water daily
- Maintaining a calm, safe environment that helps cats decompress and settle in
- Observing cats for any signs of illness or changes in behaviour and reporting these to staff
- Using safe, welfare-considered handling techniques — including knowing when to give a cat its space
- Providing positive interaction, play and enrichment
What we're looking for:
- 16years or older
- Comfortable in a busy environment
- Able to lift up to 15kg
- Patient and calm around anxious or shy animals
Shifts available
Flexible four hour shifts available seven days a week from 8:30am to 12:30pm and 12:30pm to 4:00pm. We're looking for volunteers who can commit to one shift per week or fortnight.
