As a Laundry and Food Preparation Assistant, you’ll play a crucial behind-the-scenes role that helps keep animals comfortable, clean, and well-nourished while they wait for their forever homes. Every load of washing folded and every meal prepared directly supports the health and wellbeing of animals in our care.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in practical tasks and understands the essential impact that non-animal contact roles have in advancing animal welfare.
What you’ll be doing
- Collecting, washing, drying, folding, and sorting animal bedding and linens
- Cleaning and organising the laundry room
- Sorting and managing donated linen and towels
- Making dog beds and delivering clean bedding to the appropriate areas
- Preparing meals by following feed sheets provided by animal attendants and veterinarians
- Delivering meals and enrichment items throughout the shelter
- General cleaning, including washing kitchenware, wiping benches, and restocking supplies
Between washing and drying cycles, you’re welcome to lend a hand with other tasks around the shelter — or take a quiet moment to relax with a book.
What we’re looking for
- Aged 16 years or over
- Able to lift up to 15kg
- Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete tasks reliably
Shifts available
Flexible shifts are available seven days a week, on a weekly or fortnightly basis:
8am–11am | 11am–1pm | 1pm–4pm
