Are you a hands-on, get-stuck-in kind of person with a love for animals? Join our Kennel Support Volunteer Team and help create clean, calm and comfortable spaces for dogs in our care.
This is an active, hands-on, behind-the-scenes role that will keep you on your feet throughout your entire shift — if you enjoy physical, active work you'll thrive here. Your efforts directly contribute to the health, hygiene and wellbeing of every dog in our kennels. While animal interaction is minimal, time is built into each shift for volunteers to enjoy some meaningful one-on-one time with suitable dogs — a small but rewarding part of a role that makes a big difference.
This role is ideal for those who understand that non-animal contact roles play a profound and essential part in advancing animal welfare.
What you'll be doing
- Cleaning and preparing empty dog kennels
- Replacing bedding and setting up kennels for daily use
- Washing and sanitising bowls and equipment
- Contributing to a calm, organised kennel environment alongside our animal attendants
- Complying with Work Health and Safety guidelines and RSPCA NSW policies and procedures
What we're looking for
- At least 16 years of age
- Comfortable with active, physical work throughout an entire shift
- Comfortable with physical tasks including lifting up to 10kg
- Happy to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and get a little dirty
- Well organised, flexible and able to prioritise
- Able to follow direction and work as part of a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Enjoys interacting with people and animals
Shifts available
Shifts run from 9am to 12pm, Monday to Sunday. We're looking for volunteers who can commit to one shift per week or fortnight.
