Every horse at the Hunter Equine Adoption Centre relies on a clean, safe and well-maintained environment to support their comfort and wellbeing. Stables Volunteers play an important role in supporting the daily operation of the centre by helping maintain paddocks, stables and equipment, preparing feeds, and grooming approved horses under the direction of stables staff. 

What you'll be doing: 

• Cleaning paddocks, water tubs and stables 

• Preparing feeds, and washing, sanitising and storing buckets and stable equipment 

• Cleaning the general stable area, sweeping floors and cleaning benches 

• Grooming and handling horses that are approved for volunteer handling 

• Following correct cleaning procedures, chemical use guidelines and infection control measures 

• Working under the direction of stables staff to support a calm, organised environment 

• Clocking in and out of each shift using Better Impact, either on a personal mobile device or the iPad provided on site. 

What we're looking for: 

• Prior horse knowledge, with experience handling, grooming and feeding horses 

• 18 years or older 

• Comfortable with regular physical tasks and on your feet for extended periods 

• Able to lift up to 15kg 

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions 

• Reliable, well organised and able to follow instructions as part of a team 

Shifts available 

One shift per week or fortnight, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Before you start, you'll complete an online equine course and a quick chat with Senior Management to make sure it's the right fit.
