Teen Volunteer for In Person Volunteering
All teens aged 13 - 17 who are interested in working as an in-person volunteer at the library are required to attend an orientation prior to any volunteer activities. Orientation sessions are available three times a year: at the beginning of Fall, Spring, and Summer. Library staff expect the teen volunteers to be the ones creating the Better Impact account as well as communicating with library staff.
How to Sign Up for an Orientation Session:
- Fill out a volunteer application using the link on this page.
- You will be notified by email when orientation sessions become available.
- Sign up for only one orientation session.
Orientation Rules:
- All teens must self-register for their orientation session. No one will be automatically registered.
Teens may only attend one orientation session per season. - Teens must arrive for orientation no later than five minutes after the posted start time. Teens arriving later will not be admitted, and will be required to complete a different orientation session before being eligible to volunteer in person.
Details about In-Person Volunteering:
- In-person volunteers help library staff prepare, pilot, and present library programs. Opportunities for in-person volunteering will be posted by our librarians as needed.
- After completing an orientation session, teens can sign up for volunteer opportunities using the Better Impact system.
- If a teen completes an orientation session but does not sign up for and work at least one volunteer opportunity in a season, they must complete another orientation at the beginning of the next season to maintain their volunteer eligibility.
