Greet & Guide Volunteer - Lismore Base Hospital
As a Greet & Guide volunteer at Lismore Base Hospital, you are the first point of contact for patients and visitors who may be feeling overwhelmed about accessing their required service.
Based at both the main entry foyer of the hospital and the reception area of the Outpatient and Community Health Unit, you will offer a warm greeting to people upon their arrival and departure. You will also provide a sense of certainty as you calmly direct and guide patients and visitors throughout the facility.
Working closely with Receptionists and other staff, your goal is to help ensure patients and visitors feel welcome, safe, confident, and cared for. This includes offering a friendly smile and verbal greeting, providing directions (map-reading) or escorting people to where they need to be, assisting with wheelchairs or luggage and fielding requests from the public to our staff.
Duty Statement:
- Greet patients and visitors upon their arrival and departure from the facility.
- Provide information and directions on the location of wards and departments.
- Escort patients and visitors to various wards and departments when necessary.

- Assist patients with their luggage and request help from staff if required.
- Provide information on local amenities such as parking, hospital eateries, rest rooms, taxis and public transport.
- Reassure people if they appear distressed or confused and work with staff to fulfill patient requests.
