Patient Companion – Dialysis Support

Patient Companion volunteers in our Renal Unit play a vital role in enhancing the experience of patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Your goal is to encourage a calm environment and help reduce feelings of loneliness and boredom for patients.

By offering patients emotional and social support though gentle conversation, light activities and assisting with personal needs, Patient Companions relieve pressure from nursing staff, allowing them to deliver the best possible clinical care for patients.

This is a personal, diverse and important role supporting patients who receive treatment in hospital multiple times every week.
