Administrative Support


Administrative Support Administrative Support volunteers plays a key role in keeping the centre running smoothly by assisting with reception, data entry, and general office tasks. This position helps create a welcoming, organized environment so staff can focus more time on supporting animals. Responsibilities Tasks may vary by location and may include: Assist with administrative and reception duties. Greet visitors, answer questions, and help direct individuals to the appropriate staff or service areas. Review emails and forward to appropriate staff as needed. Collaborate closely with staff to support a variety of general administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, photocopying, scanning, and organizing documents. Enter information and retrieve reports from various computer programs as required. Organize, review, and input data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. • Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment that reflects the values Of the BC SPCA. Age requirement 19+ • Volunteers must maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Comfortable using a computer and open to learning new databases. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office tools effectively in a professional environment. Database administration skills an asset but not required. • Works well independently and with a team. Reliable and committed. • Attention to detail and good problem solver. • Open to learning new tasks and shifting tasks as needed. Shifts may require sustained focus and attention to detail, particularly when entering data or managing documents. Volunteering Conditions • This role IS performed on-site at the BC SPCA centre, with tasks and pace varying depending on location and daily activity levels. • Work is carried out in an office or reception environment, which may include periods of sitting, standing, and interacting with the public. • Volunteers may experience a busy, fast-paced atmosphere, especially during peak visitor times or high-volume days. • Regular interaction with staff, volunteers, and members of the public is expected, requiring a calm, friendly, and professional approach. • Occasional exposure to animals and animal-related environments may occur when assisting staff or supporting centre operations. Time Commitment Approximately 2 hours of online training is required before starting. • Approximately 2 hours per week for a minimum duration of 6 months.
