BCSPCA SPEAKING FOR ANIMALS Donation Box Collection Join our team of like-minded individuals as a Donation Box or Coin Can collecting volunteer with the BC SPCA! Work together with staff and our many partner businesses to help bring in these funds on a driving route that makes sense for you in your local community! Your support will ensure this vital fundraising effort continues. Responsibilities Together with centre staff, develop and determine a list of businesses to visit. ' Pick up the donation containers, empty them and leave the empty cans. Count the funds collected and roll change back at the centre. Work with the centre manager or program lead to add potential businesses. Alert staff if there any issues with donation boxes or the businesses that have them at their locations. Requirements & Training • Must be 19+ years of age • Reliable, committed and trustworthy Organized Clear communicator • Works well independantly • BC Class 5 Driver's License & reliable vehicle • Completion of online training • Philosophical harmony with the BC SPCA's vision, mission, values, and strategic directions. Volunteering Conditions Indoor and Outdoor Settings: Volunteers may work both indoors and outdoors. Indoors, including businesses around the community, and our animal centre. While outdoor work might involve walking between a vehicle and locations, or between pick-up/drop-off locations. Weather Conditions: Outdoor tasks may require working in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, ice, or heat. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for seasonal changes. Lifting and Moving: Volunteers may need to lift or move supplies, such as coin boxes, and their contents. Repetive motions but with relatively low weight. Standing and Walking: This role involves some standing and walking as you visit the coin box locations for drop off and collection. Driving in varied traffic and road conditions, within your community Safety Protocols: Volunteers must adhere to safety protocols and all motor vehicle laws. Time Commitment 2 -4 hours when collecting from business on your route. • Frequency could be as much as weekly, depending on the busyness of the locations. • Ideally committing to 6 months or longer.
