Penticton Animal Hospital

BCSPCA  Vet Clinic Cleaning & Maintenance.  Support the mission of the BC SPCA by helping our veterinary clinic maintain a clean and organized environment to ensure it is a hygienic and comfortable space for both animals and people.  Responsibilities:   Connect with the vet clinic manager or volunteer lead to receive daily assignments.  Sweep and mop floors, dust and disinfect surfaces, clean windows and glass.  Launder towels and bedding, clean animal enclosures, and wash animal dishes.  Help with outdoor tasks such as trash pick-up, leaf sweeping, and snow shoveling (as needed).  Organize and restock supplies.  Notify staff with update of remaining tasks prior to leaving shift.  • Adhere to safety and cleaning protocols and maintain client privacy and confidentiality.  Follow directions of staff and adhere to all BC SPCA policies.  Requirements & Training:   Must be at least 19+ years of age.  • Works well independently.  • Dependable & committed.  Strong attention to detail.  • Ability to follow directions.  Effective communication skills.  Flexible and adaptable.  1 hour of online training plus on-site orientation and on-shift training.  Philosophical harmony with the BC SPCA's mission, vision, values, and strategic directions.  Volunteering Conditions:   • Indoor and Outdoor Settings: Volunteers will work indoors and outdoors, depending on the tasks. Indoor settings include animal care areas, offices, and medical facilities, while outdoor work might involve maintaining the premises.  • Weather Conditions: Outdoor tasks may require working in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, ice, or heat. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for seasonal changes.  • Lifting and Moving: This role may involve standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.  Volunteers may need to lift or move supplies and equipment. *Speak to us about modifications needed.  • Safety Protocols: Volunteers must adhere to safety protocols to protect themselves and the animals. This includes using personal protective equipment (PPE) where necessary.  • Potential Hazards: Be aware of potential hazards from being in an environment around animals such as bites, scratches, or exposure to zoonotic diseases. Training will cover how to minimize these risks.  Time Commitment:   • Minimum 2 hour shift each week.  • Flexible timing during the clinic's hours of operation.  • Duration of at least 3 months.
