Adoption Story Copywriter. remote position. Are you looking to hone, develop, and maintain your copywriting skills? The BC SPCA team is seeking volunteers to help us share the stories of successful adoptions and make a meaningful impact for animals in need of forever homes. Responsibilities In collaborating with the BC SPCA team, you'll have the opportunity to transform adoption story submissions into compelling and impactful narratives. Work closely with staff to receive tasks and meet submission deadlines. Produce a minimum of five (5) adoption stories per month for the website. Follow and adhere to all BC SPCA policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and respectful communication. Requirements & Training • Philosophical harmony with our mission, vision, values and strategic directions. • Age requirement 19+ years old. • Interview and/or resume may be requested. • Understanding of confidentiality an asset. • Experience and/or training in media communications is an asset. • Ability to use basic digital tools. • Access to a computer or device capable of writing and submitting content with a secure internet connection. • Familiarity with or open to learning BC SPCA policies, branding, and messaging standards. • Comfortable collaborating with staff and receiving feedback on drafts. • Attention to detail, especially when handling animal information. • Awareness of ethical storytelling practices, including accuracy and respectful representation of adopters and animals. Volunteering Conditions • Work is completed from home or another quiet, private and reliable location. • Comfortable seating, ergonomic setup and adequate lighting is beneficial. • Stable and secure internet connection required. • Backup plan for connectivity issues (e.g., mobile hotspot) • Space where confidential information can be handled/viewed securely. • Avoid shared or public areas for sensitive tasks. Time Commitment • Approximately 2 hours of online training is required before starting. • This is a remote and flexible opportunity. • Approximately 2 hours per week for a minimum duration of 6 months. • Availability for brief project discussions and check-ins.
