Role Purpose

 

St Giles Hospice offers emotional, physical and practical support for our patients, and those important to them. Whether it’s helping with pain relief, supporting a loved one or just being there to listen, we understand that sometimes it’s the little things that can make the biggest difference.

 

Our Fundraising Ambassador volunteers are instrumental in our success and play a huge role in the Hospice through giving the gift of time. Our Fundraising Ambassador’s provide a vital support to our income generation work.

 

By representing St Giles Hospice at community and fundraising events, you’ll help us to raise awareness, build relationships and aid fundraising, so we can continue to provide specialist palliative and end of life care across our community.

What will I be doing?

With full training provided, including support sessions led by the St Giles Hospice Fundraising Team, you may be involved in one or more of the following:

  • Attending cheque presentations on behalf of the St Giles Fundraising Team to thank and say a few words about how donations make a difference.
  • Deliver talks to local community groups, faith groups, rotary clubs, women’s institute groups etc. about the work of the charity and the ways in which they can helps us achieve our goals.
  • Act as lead volunteer for certain activities in the community.
  • Represent St Giles Hospice at certain activities in the community.
  • Manage information and fundraising stands at local events.
  • Attend bucket collections at local venues
  • Monitoring event equipment (eg. gazebo, banners, merchandise, donation buckets) and ensuring they’re used/stored correctly.
  • Ensuring safe cash handling practices are followed and that funds are returned in line with hospice policy.
  • Following event briefs and risk assessments, supporting others to do the same on the day.
  • Overseeing on-the-day event volunteers, offering guidance and checking in on their wellbeing. 
  • Supporting to raise awareness of the work of St Giles Hospice.

What do I need? 

 

We welcome applications from individuals with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked in fundraising before, as full training will be provided.

 

This role will suit someone who is: 

  • A confident communicator and enjoys meeting new people
  • Organised and happy to take on some event-day responsibilities 
  • Willing to follow hospice policies and briefings
  • Sociable, approachable and a great team player
  • Happy to represent St Giles Hospice in a professional and positive way.
  • This role is subject to a basic DBS check
