Endeavour Fern Gully - Eco Action: Indigenous Planting Volunteer
Join the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) Eco Action Volunteer program and help restore habitat at Endeavour Fern Gully. Volunteers will assist with planting indigenous species into newly prepared garden beds surrounding the Nearkey Biik Education Centre. This hands-on conservation activity will contribute to biodiversity outcomes, improve habitat for local wildlife, and enhance the environmental values of this important National Trust property. We especially welcome volunteers from the Mornington Peninsula and surrounding areas.

Time Commitment 10.00-15.00
Reports To Environmental Advocate and NTAV Staff
Tasks
Volunteers may assist with:
- Planting indigenous seedlings according to site plans and instructions
- Preparing planting holes and positioning plants correctly
- Applying mulch around new plantings where required
- Watering newly planted vegetation
- Assisting with basic site clean-up following the activity
- Working safely as part of a team under the supervision of National Trust staff
Skills and Attributes
Volunteers should:
- Have an interest in environmental conservation and habitat restoration
- Enjoy working outdoors in a team environment
- Be willing to undertake light to moderate physical activity, including bending, kneeling and lifting
- Follow safety instructions and work procedures
- Bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn
No previous planting experience is required.
Physical Requirements
This activity involves:
- Walking on uneven ground
- Digging and planting by hand
- Bending, kneeling and standing for extended periods
- Carrying small plants, tools and mulch
Reasonable adjustments can be discussed where possible.
What to Bring
Volunteers should wear:
- Long sleeves and long pants
- Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots
- A hat and weather-appropriate clothing

Tools and planting equipment will be provided.
