PROGRAM NAME: Older Adult Day Program Abbotsford for South Asians & South Asian Caregivers Program

POSITION TITLE:     Support Volunteer

SCHEDULE:              1 – 2 days per week, varying schedule per program needs

LOCATION:              Archway locations, Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Abbotsford Gudwaras, parks and community events          

REPORTS TO:          Program Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY

To support the Fraser Health and Archway Day Program for Older Adults and the South Asian Caregivers program. Assist staff and clients with the extra support and information they may require.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Community outreach to promote programs and share information

·  Welcome clients, help them settle in, and escort them as needed

·  Support activities (games, reading, conversation, exercise)

·  Set up information tables and meeting spaces

·  Help clients find needed information or referrals

·  Assist with meals, snacks, clean-up, and departures

QUALIFICATIONS

• Criminal record check
• Fluent in Punjabi
• Patience, enthusiasm, good health to support seniors, open-minded, and willing to learn.
• Good Communication and listening skills, knowledge of other programs, and organization is an asset.
