Polly WoodSide - PW New Volunteer Information day

The purpose of this Polly Woodside volunteer role is to assist in the continued maintenance of the ship Polly Woodside and her surrounds. This supports the National Trust of Australia (Victoria)’s mission to preserve and celebrate Australia’s maritime heritage.
Hours and Days per Week Required (Minimum per Month)
Volunteers meet every Tuesday from 10:00am – 3:00pm
Minimum commitment: 1 day per month
Support Provided by NTAV to Volunteers
Volunteers will receive a full site induction and ongoing support and guidance from NTAV staff and experienced volunteers. All tasks will be supervised and training provided as needed.
Volunteer Tasks can include : 
  • Painting and rust management
  • Rope work and woodwork
  • Sanding and power washing
  • Weeding and general site maintenance
  • Supporting restoration and upkeep projects led by the maintenance team
Skills, Qualifications or Experience Required (or Desirable) for Role
  • Experience in the maritime industry is desirable but not essential
  • Skills in woodworking, rope work, or metal work are highly valued
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to hands-on tasks
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow safety procedures

Training Provided by NTAV
Training is provided onsite, led by experienced volunteers and the NTAV maintenance team. Volunteers will learn through hands-on participation and mentorship.
