POSITION SUMMARY
The Volunteer Interpreter supports effective communication between clients and case workers by providing accurate and confidential language interpretation during appointments and phone calls.
This role supports clients in accessing services, understand important information and feeling understood throughout their journey with the Moving Ahead Program (MAP) and Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP).
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To provide oral interpretation between clients and care workers during appointments and phone calls.
- To facilitate clear and accurate communication without adding personal opinions or advice.
- To maintain confidentiality and always protect client privacy.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification:
- Criminal Record Check required.
Experience:
- Experience interpreting and working with diverse communities is an asset.
Knowledge and Skill Set
- Fluent in English and at least one other language.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain impartial.
- Culturally sensitive, reliable, and respectful.
