Tech Tutoring

Introduction: Tech Tutors provide one-on-one technology-related tutoring to patrons in pre-registered 55-minute sessions.

 

Responsible To: Tech Tutors report to the Librarian.

 

Time Commitment and Scheduling:

  • Most tutors offer three 50-minute tutoring sessions per week, on a consistent, established day.
  • Patrons register for tutoring sessions at the Information desk.
  • Tutors may wish to contact patrons and prepare material ahead of time, but this is not required.
  • Patrons are limited to one tutoring session with one follow-up session per year, to allow ample tutoring opportunities to all interested patrons.
  • Patrons register with their name, contact information, and a line describing the topic in which they wish to receive assistance.

 

Sessions:

  • Tutoring sessions are 55 minutes in length and take place in one of the Library meeting rooms.
  • Tutors may choose to offer tutoring in all tech-related areas, or may choose to limit their sessions to certain topics (eg. No Macs; only eReaders and tablets, etc.)

 

Privacy:

  • Tutors’ contact information is never given out to patrons.
