Camps are for everyone! The Y offers a variety of programs at more than 50 locations across the GTA to ensure we meet campers' needs and interests. Programs range from creative arts and cooking, to filmmaking, science programs, swimming lessons, outdoor adventure, and more.

Volunteer recruitment for Summer Day Camp will begin in April 2026. For a list of our locations, visit our Day Camp page. 

In addition to our local camp programs, we have two Outdoor Education Centres that run year-round:

  • YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre: 13300 11th Concession, Schomberg, Ontario
  • YMCA Camp Pine Crest: 1090 Gullwing Lake Road, Torrance, Ontario

YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Education Centre

Since 2001, we've helped groups, families, and nature lovers just like you create unforgettable outdoor experiences. Just 45 minutes from Toronto, our 263-acre playground has a little something for everyone. We operate year-round and our wide variety of programs include:

  • Outdoor Education, Leadership & Teambuilding Activities, SHSM Workshops
  • Retreats & Conferences
  • Sustainable Farming & Harvest Share Memberships
  • Family Camps
  • Summer Day Camps

Volunteer roles include:

  • Outdoor Education
  • Kitchen Assistant
  • Maintenance Assistant
  • Assistant Gardener

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum of one month for three hours a week

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age 16 years old or turning 16 in the current calendar year.
  • Volunteers age 18 and above will need to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with others in a team setting.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Responsible, reliable and committed to the role.
  • First Aid an asset.
  • Food Handling Certificate an asset (for Kitchen Assistant).

Summer Day Camp Programs

Day Camp offers campers an opportunity to discover their potential at camp. Through new experiences, skill-building programs, a supportive community and lasting friendships, we know they will be able to accomplish whatever they put their mind to during their camp week. Summer Day Camp is located in conservation and urban settings across the Greater Toronto Area and Muskoka, allowing campers to return home each evening. Summer Day Camp programs range from arts and science to sports, swimming, leadership, outdoor adventures and more! Volunteers partner with counselors help with day-to-day activities to ensure we run a safe and fun environment.

Time Commitment:

  • Minimum one full week.
  • Camp runs Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm, however volunteer schedules can be organized for half days or full days based on volunteer availability.
  • Opportunities exist to volunteer within our extended hours programs that run from 7:30am to 9:00am and 4:00pm to 6:00pm daily.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age: For day camp locations with a leadership program, minimum age is 16, unless you have successfully completed a leadership program and have Camp Director’s approval. For camps without a leadership program, minimum age is 13 years.
  • Volunteers age 18 and above will need to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering.
  • First Aid an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with others in a team setting.
  • Strong communication skills.
