Join Audubon volunteers and staff to count and document coastal bird species. This survey provides valuable data for addressing the conservation needs of coastal birds that breed, migrate and winter along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Site Type: Mainland Beach
Site Description: The Moses Pier site is characterized by extensive mudflats, which attracts a large variety of shorebirds. Plovers, sandpipers, and Marbled Godwits are especially common. Large groups of loafing terns and gulls can also be seen along this transect. The rock jetties and fishing pier provide loafing areas for Laughing Gulls, Royal Terns, and Brown Pelicans.
Meeting location: Park at the second parking bay east of the main Jones Park entrance. The bay is directly across from Hill Place.
Survey Transect: This transect is 1 mile long. The west end is the stone jetty near the meeting location. The east end is at the Hill Place/Highway 90 intersection.
