Biloxi Beach (beach-nesting bird site)

Site Description: Biloxi Beach has three separate posted areas due to the ongoing construction at this site. The birds have nested from Kuhn Street boat ramp to the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor. There is a new seawall being installed along Highway 90. There is a parking bay on Highway 90, but at this time it would be best to park at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor to avoid the construction mess.

Volunteer Bird Stewards are needed to protect beach-nesting birds in the summertime. Least Terns are nesting at this very large Important Bird Area. Bird Stewards help ensure beachgoers do not enter fragile nesting areas and help educate visitors about the remarkable species that rely on Mississippi's shores for survival. Interested individuals should like spending time on the beach and interacting with the public.  

Volunteers are needed beginning now through August to protect beach-nesting birds and educate beach-goers. Audubon can provide a tee shirt, chair, umbrella, binoculars, and educational hand-outs to all interested parties. Shifts are daily and occur in three-hour increments.
