Audubon Climate Watch Surveys - Climate Watch Surveys - MS

The winter Climate Watch pulse runs from January 15th to February 15th. This year we will be following the safety guidelines listed here: Climate Watch Winter 2022 Guidelines

The guidelines state we should wait until at least Jan 5th before officially deciding whether to proceed or not. We will keep an eye on local regulations and send an email closer to the survey period.

For a refresher, here is the link to the project that contains all the survey information:  https://www.audubon.org/features/esri-climate-watch. Our target species remains the Brown-headed Nuthatch. Each survey area contains 12 locations for point counts. Each point count lasts for 5 minutes. All that is required is that you be able to identify this one bird, the Brown-headed Nuthatch. If you are able to ID more species, you can also submit a full eBird checklist. We are also looking for new areas to be surveyed in the lower six coastal counties. Please email: tim.guida@audubon.org if you would like to plan to survey a new area near your home or favorite birding spot. Stay tuned for more information!
