Survey transect: Clockwise loop on dirt trail. Starting point: (30.365283, -88.571727)
An old dredge disposal site managed by USACE. The transect consists of a 1.7-mile earthen berm surrounded by salt marsh on the outside. The interior is grown up and shrubby with some freshwater marsh and ponds. This site is good for both waterbirds and for songbirds. During migration, buntings, grosbeaks and a variety of warblers can be seen. The internal ponds can host ibis, American Coots, and waterfowl.
*Surveyors must have a hold harmless agreement signed with USACE.
