Early Childhood - Early Childhood Specialist
PURPOSE: To assist the Coordinator, CCCP and Training Coordinator, CCCP and CSEFEL in the provision of mental health training and technical assistance services to staff members and families associated with child care, Head Start, and early education programs in Tennessee. Also to assist the Coordinator, CCCP and Director, Early Childhood Programs in public policy and development activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in the development, field testing, and delivery of training
workshops for childcare and early education providers, teachers,
specialty staff, and administrators
* Assist in the analysis of public policy issues regarding the mental
health needs of young children in Tennessee
QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in the development and delivery of training and technical assistance services to staff members and/or consumers involved in health, mental health, educational, social welfare or related fields. Also training and/or experience in public policy analysis and development
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Orientation with the Volunteer Coordinator (one hour). On the job training with program supervisors to include a review of completed training workshop curricula and materials and preparation in the use of workshop survey instruments, behavioral screening instruments, and data analysis protocols. Estimated 6 hours required.
TIME AND PLACE: Variable schedule can be arranged during business hours and evening hours. Tennessee Voices for Children, 1315 8th Avenue South, Nashville, TN. Also, training sites across Tennessee as individual schedules permit
COMMITMENT: Minimum 2-4 hours per week, 12 calendar months
SUPERVISION/EVALUATION: Mamie McKenzie, Coordinator, CCCP and/or Dianne Oyama Dixon, Training Coordinator, CCCP and CSEFL. Minimum 30 minutes per month formal supervision meeting with additional contact as needed. Performance evaluation measures as required by volunteer’s affiliate (e.g., university, community service organization) and/or individualized work plan developed by supervisors.
