Mule Town Volunteers - Youth Advocate
PURPOSE: To promote system of care in the community, to promote collaboration between parents/families and community agencies, to advocate for families’ needs, to advocate for the continuation of system of care program in the community
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Serve on boards and councils
* Put information packets together
* Coordinate presentations in the community
* Assist with support groups
* Participate in letter writing campaign for program continuation
* Help with events
* Participate in Youth in Action Council
QUALIFICATIONS: family member of a child with an SED and/or youth mental health consumer
TIME AND PLACE: varies based on the activity – Youth in Action Council meets twice per month at TVC, usually on Tuesday evenings; presentations in the community would be scheduled in advance; events in the community would be scheduled in advance; phone calls or letters to legislators in support of the program can be done anytime, either from home or here at the office
COMMITMENT: Youth in Action Council – 3-4 hours per month plus any events that may be planned; presentations are usually between 30 mins and an hour, occur throughout the year; letter writing or phone calls would be more than a one-time activity, needs to occur monthly to advocate for the program and/or the need for family involvement/inclusion in services
SUPERVISION/EVALUATION: project director or designee; Youth in Action Council meetings and events are supervised by the Youth Coordinator with general oversight by the project director
