Brief MASH Overview

  • MASH clinics are often held in more remote areas of Ontario and require some long-distance travel to various Ontario communities such as Constance Lake and Akwesasne.
  • Spay/Neuter clinics will take place from April – October, with one per month except for the month of May.
  •  MASH clinics are 3 to 4 days with travel required before and after the clinic (5-6 days total).
  • Shared accommodation and carpooling, when possible, will be arranged by the MASH team.
  • All meals during the clinic are covered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support setup and takedown of the Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital.
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Assist with intake exams, monitoring of animals after surgery, vitals, etc.
  • Prepare animals for surgery including restraint, shaving, and surgical preparation.
  • Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery using low stress and fear free techniques.
  • Support wellness exams and vaccinations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment.
  • Educate clients on post-operative care and basic animal wellness.
  • Follow all clinic protocols and safety guidelines.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in recognized Veterinary or RVT program 
  • Basic knowledge of surgical procedures and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Experience working in a high-volume spay/neuter clinic or mobile surgical unit is an asset.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 18 kg (40lbs) and to stand for long periods. 
  • Compassionate attitude towards animals and clients.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinary staff.
