Our Adult & Senior Seniors programs are based out of:

Please note: The Wilson Kitchen operates Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 1:30pm. As a result, all volunteer opportunities are currently limited to weekdays between 9:00am and 2:00pm.

Volunteer opportunities in Adult & Senior Services are typically a good fit for people who are:

  • 18+ years of age
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Available weekday mornings and early afternoons 
  • Enjoy cooking, baking or engaging with customers

Applying to Volunteer:

  • Fill in an application (link)
  • Sign up for and attend an interview
  • Complete and submit a Criminal Record Check
  • Review the Volunteer Handbook and submit a Volunteer Agreement Form
  • Sign up for and attend a Volunteer Orientation

Volunteer opportunities are posted seasonally in line with the City's Leisure Guide.

Volunteer Opportunities

Wilson Kitchen - Counter Service

Counter Service volunteer take orders from customers at the Wilson Kitchen, including hot beverages, soups, sandwiches and baked goods, plate orders and relay the orders to the Food Services worker for sale. This role that is a good fit for those who have customer service experience and enjoy working with others in a fast-paced community environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Some customer service experience
  • Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)

Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall

Wilson Kitchen - Sandwich Maker

Assist Food Services staff in preparing various food items that will be sold at the Wilson Kitchen. As a Sandwich Maker you will help primarily assist in preparing and assemble sandwiches.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Some kitchen experience
  • Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)

Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall

Wilson Kitchen - Dishwasher

Assist Food Services staff by loading and emptying the dishwasher and putting items away. Wilson Kitchen Dishwashers are an important part of the team, assisting with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)

Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall

Wilson Kitchen - Baker

Assist Food Services staff in preparing various baked goods that will be sold at the Wilson Kitchen. As a Baker, you will use various kitchen tools and appliances to mix and bake goods. Food items may include scones, cookies and muffins.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Some baking experience
  • Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)

Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall

Wilson Kitchen - Floating Kitchen Support

Floating Kitchen Support volunteers will have flexible tasks and duties. You may perform a variety of tasks based on the needs of the Wilson Kitchen and under the direction of Food Services staff. These tasks may include helping to bake, cook, clean, or perform customer service related duties (counter service). This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to keep active that enjoys variety.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Some kitchen experience
  • Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)

Wilson Kitchen - Food Prep

Floating Kitchen Support volunteers will have flexible tasks and duties. You may perform a variety of tasks based on the needs of the Wilson Kitchen and under the direction of Food Services staff.
