Activity Summary:

The Food Pantry Receiving Assistant will assist in providing food to the community by helping receive and shelve pantry items from Northern Illinois Food Bank. 

Duties include, but are not limited to, transferring items from truck to pantry shelves inside, shelving and organizing pantry items, and preparing for food pantry distributions. 

Our Food Pantry Receiving Assistant shifts are available 2nd Wednesdays and 2nd Thursdays of the month from 10:00am - 1:00pm and 1:00pm - 4:00pm. Shift times are flexible. 

The Salvation Army Joliet Corps is located at 300 3rd Ave, Joliet, IL 60433.

Qualifications: 

• 18 years or older
• Enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds
• Possess effective communication abilities
• Must be able to comfortably lift cases of food (30+lbs)
• Reliable, professional and friendly
• Pass initial screening process
• Bilingual abilities are a plus

Policies:

Alcohol, drugs and smoking are not permitted at any Salvation Army Facilities or volunteer sites 

Pants and shirts must cover the waistband. Flip flops, shorts, tank tops, undershirts, or halter tops, sleeveless shirts, crop tops, spaghetti straps and strapless tops are not permitted. Shoes must be closed toe. Transparent, tight or form fitting clothes are not permitted. 

Off Street Parking is available.
