Remote - Bloggers
Do you enjoy writing?
Do you want volunteering to fit in around you?
Are you interested in the history of the city/its people?
Overview
We have a shiny new website and although the museum team will be creating pieces talking about their work and what’s going on behind-the-scenes, we want you, the people of Oxford, to fill it with blog posts about things you are interested in.
These can be object based (‘What did medieval Oxonians eat?’), story based (‘What sparked the St Scholastica’s Day riots?’), people based ('Who was the real Alice in Wonderland?'), Oxford-related (‘Why is May Day so important in Oxford?’ or ‘5 most filmed places in Oxford’), or on volunteering (focused on the benefits/working on particular projects).
This role would suit volunteers who:
- Enjoy writing
- Are passionate about specific stories/objects in the museum and beyond
- Have a creative flair
We have a list of potential areas/topics which you can chose from, or feel free to suggest your own.
We ask that you propose a topic/say what topic you’d like to write about before creating a post. Your blog posts will be reviewed and edited by a member of the museum team who may ask you to make changes so we can align with the values of the museum and those of the council. We will attribute your blog post to you. Word count: 400-2,000 words long. If you include images, please ensure you have the rights (we can help with this). The blogs will be released gradually/when appropriate.
Interested?
