Ames Service Center - Food Pantry Prep Assistant
The Salvation Army is searching for a Food Pantry Prep Assistant. This position is in the mornings from 9:30am-12:30pm. Available shifts are on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday each week.
Duties include accepting donations from our partners, looking them over to assure acceptable, putting items where they belong (refrigeration, shelving, etc.), sorting items and other activities that help us to prepare for our afternoon guests. Because of the nature of this position, there will be bending, lifting, crouching, walking, and standing for long periods and having stamina to complete the tasks. If there is a lull, we have other duties in the food pantry that can be completed. We do have chairs available to rest, if needed.
Working in our pantry is a lot of fun. In the beginning, you’ll work side by side with one of our experienced volunteers or staff members so you can see how things work. We want this to be a rewarding experience for you.

We are taking precautions to protect our volunteers, staff and guests. We are minimizing our contact with those in need of food therefore, we are prepackaging food that is being distributed out our front entryway. We will continue to follow CDC and local health department guidelines to keep our guests, volunteers, and staff safe.
We ask that if you are experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath or any other illness, that you stay home and take care of yourself. Please feel free to bring your own mask or we do have some you can use, if you so choose.
