Ames Service Center - Ames Food Pantry Assistant
Want to make an impact on food security in your community?
The Salvation Army needs your help with our Food Pantry from 12:30 - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday. You can choose one day or multiple days to volunteer. If you aren't available for an entire shift, we are able to adjust to fit your schedule.
Your role would be to prepackage food boxes for our guests. Ideal candidates are adults, 18 and older who are comfortable standing, walking, bending, and are able to lift 20-30 pounds. If there is a lull, you can help in other areas like stocking shelves and helping to reset the pantry for the next round of guests.
Working in our pantry is a lot of fun. In the beginning, you’ll train with one of our experienced volunteers or staff members so you can see how things work. We want this to be a rewarding experience for you. In addition to the good feels, this opportunity offers job skills, new social connections, letters of recommendation, and service hour confirmation for school and religious requirements.
