Ames Service Center - Ames Food Pantry Assistant

The Salvation Army needs your help with our Food Pantry & our Doing the Most Good Market from 12:30 - 3:30pm, Monday - Friday. You can choose one day or multiple days to volunteer.  If you aren't available for an entire shift, we are able to adjust to fit your schedule.

Your role would be to prepackage the food for our guests. This will mean bending, lifting, and walking. If there is a lull, you can help in other areas like stocking shelves and helping to reset the pantry for the next round of guests.

Working in our pantry is a lot of fun. In the beginning, you’ll work side by side with one of our experienced volunteers or staff members so you can see how things work.  We want this to be a rewarding experience for you.

**If you are a group, please email Kathy Pinkerton at kathy.pinkerton@usc.salvationarmy.org or call 515-233-3567 to discuss how you can assist**

Our office is open to the public, but we are taking precautions to protect our volunteers, staff and guests by minimizing direct contact with our guests. We are prepackaging food that is being distributed and our families come in the lobby to pick up their food. We will continue to follow CDC and local health department guidelines to keep our guests, volunteers, and staff safe.

We ask that if you are experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath or any other illness, that you stay home and take care of yourself. Please feel free to bring your own mask or we do have some on hand that you can use you can use.
