Restoration - Witty's Lagoon Regional Park - Tower Point - Black Knapweed

Black Knapweed - Witty's Lagoon Regional Park -Tower Point (Metchosin)

*Spotted and Black Knapweed are both invasive plants native to Europe. Spotted Knapweed is widely spread throughout BC, though Black Knapweed has only been reported in Southern BC.

*There are only a few occurrences of Black Knapweed in Regional Parks. There is quite a large infestation at Witty's Lagoon Regional Park (Tower Point), though most other occurrences are quite small. This plant spreads mainly by seed.

*As the infestation as this site is so large, treatment at this site at this time of year involves clipping the developing flowerheads off the plants before they have a chance to release their seeds.
