Mornings and/or Afternoons between 9am – 3pm (some flexibility on start time) – term time at your chosen location(s)

Andover Museum – Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays
Gosport Museum – Tuesdays, Wednesdays &Thursdays
The Great Hall in Winchester – Tuesdays & Thursdays
Aldershot Military Museum  – Thursdays & Fridays

Are you interested in supporting meaningful programmes across Hampshire?

As an education volunteer you will have the opportunity to be part of our immersive educational workshops for schools. You will support our learning facilitators and our education team in the delivery of high-quality programmes predominantly around KS2, with some KS1 and KS3 sessions.

 

What to expect:

Our volunteer roles are designed to be tailored around you, your interests and your skills. Some of the things you could be up to include:

 

  • Supporting the learning facilitators to run immersive educational workshops from the setup of self-led activities through to the clear up at the end of a session.
  • Support school staff and teachers around the museum to find their way or to find out more about objects and such like.
  • Help to reset the lunchrooms between sittings.
  • There may be opportunity to work with our education team in the administration, planning, preparation or promotion of our educational workshops across Hampshire.
  • Working with the venue managers and teams in the delivery of educational programmes within their venues, be that through direct delivery or support.
  • Dressing up in costume that we at HCT will provide.

 

This is of course not exhaustive as your volunteering will evolve around you and your skillsets. Full training, guidance and support will be provided.

 

Skills and Experience:

Ideally to be comfortable in this volunteer role we think you will need to have:

  • A willingness to complete a relevant DBS – Essential.
  • A willingness to wear a relevant period costume.
  • Fantastic communication skills.
  • Good at listening.
  • Approachable.
  • Experience working with children previously or have a desire to work with them in future (ie. teacher training, Learning support assistant).
  • History, Childcare, Science, Drama qualifications all very welcome.
  • Acting Experience – Desirable.
