Community Science Programs - City Nature Challenge 2026

The City Nature Challenge is an annual celebration of global biodiversity during which participants document wild plants and animals in their communities using the iNaturalist app. As Ada County we plan to participate for the sixth year in this community science opportunity.
The City Nature Challenge takes place in two parts:
1. During the observation period, April 24th through April 27th, participants document wild species in their communities by taking and uploading photos of wild organisms to iNaturalist.
2. Between April 28th and May 10th, volunteers work to identify the photos uploaded on iNaturalist. Help us highlight the local biodiversity that makes Ada County unique by participating in this fun event.
