Woodhorn Museum - Woodhorn weeders

Woodhorn Museum are looking for volunteers to join the Woodhorn Weeders Gardening Team

Tasks

To garden inside the grounds of Woodhorn Museum alongside an active team of Age UK volunteers.

The group meet every Wednesday morning from 10am until around 12 noon. The tasks vary with the season, but typically include planting, watering, weeding, as well as occasional woodland tasks such as tree crown lifting, bulb planting, or dry hedging.

Sensitive to biodiversity and species habitats, the Woodhorn Weeders aim to work with nature. Projects often integrate with the wider museum programme and boost mental & physical wellbeing.  

Skills: 

We are looking for volunteers who are friendly and approachable with both visitors and staff.

Knowledge of gardening is useful, but not essential.

 

Good to know:

Suitable for relaxed gardeners, who like to garden at a leisurely pace, including older people.


This role involves gentle physical activity, including some walking, lifting, and bending down, as people are able. 


This is an outdoors role, so you will need to dress in weather appropriate clothing. A waterproof jacket and high-vis vest can be provided.

Level of English:

To do this role, you need to be able to understand multiple-step instructions and to be able to speak simple sentences.
