Great North Museum: Hancock - Summer Family Activities Support
We would like friendly volunteers to assist with running the craft/colouring tables we will have out for visitors through the school summer holidays. Tasks will include:
- talking to visitors about the activity
- directing visitors to other activities which may be taking place on the day, including temporary exhibitions
- being able to assist members of the public in finding different parts of the museum (eg toilets, cafe, particular galleries)
- keeping colouring sheets stocked up
- keeping visitor trails stocked up
- keeping pencils topped up and sharpened

Skills required:
- friendly public engagement
- good timekeeping/reliability
- a level of spoken English to be able to interact easily with visitors
Good to know:
Volunteers will be based in a public gallery which can get noisy. They will have access to back office areas and to the Volunteer Sensory Support Bag if needed
English Language Requirements:
Understand times and dates
follow simple instructions
have short simple conversations
Understand detailed instructions with 2 or 3 parts
read short sentences and simple instructions
Dates: Summer school holidays July- September
Qualifications Required
- General induction Must be attended
- Read Volunteer policy and volunteer agreement Must be yes
