Woodhorn Museum - Creative Writing group support

This role is suitable for those age 18 +

Help organise and support our volunteer-ran Creative Writing Group at Woodhorn Museum.

The Creative Writing Group is for anyone who enjoys jotting down your thoughts, keeping a journal or diary, writing poetry or short stories, or capturing the world in words. It is for anyone from experienced writers to complete beginners; everyone is welcome.

Volunteers can get involved in supporting the members to build stories, be inspired by the museum, local history, or Northumberland area, and use their imaginations. You do not need prior writing experience, and all training is provided.

- Communications skills
- Active listening
- Patient and empathetic
- Kind when giving feedback
- Leading/supporting group activities
- Mentoring peers (if required)

Good to know

The nearest public transport stop to Woodhorn is a 30 minute walk away. So  we advise that volunteers travel by car. 

 

English languge Level

 

It would be an advantage to be able to:

- understand some spoken English
- read short paragraphs
- write longer phrases

However, the level of English required is flexible. We would encourage anyone to come along

1st Friday of every month. 1:45- 3:45 pm

  • Ages 18 and up
  • Read Volunteer policy and volunteer agreement Must be yes
  • General induction Must be attended
