Discovery Museum - Steam to Green - VR Headset gallery support
This role is suitable for those age 16+
Discovery Museum is looking for volunteers to support Steam to Green : A North East Energy Revolution'. The exhibition tells the story of energy in the North East by looking back to the industrial revolution and forward to the pioneering contributions we’re making to green technologies. Curated in partnership with Newcastle University and drawing on expertise from across the green energy sector, the exhibition will celebrate the region’s rich history of creativity and invention by connecting the old with the new and telling a compelling story of hope in the face of the climate crisis.
VR headset volunteers will be in the galleries on a Friday to supervise the use of a Virtual Reality headset showing what it's like to work on a wind farm (using drone footage and helmet cameras).
We offer a morning and an afternoon session, with each session attended by up to 2 volunteers. The History team will show you how they work on your first session.
Tasks:
* Supervise the use of the two headsets: make sure they stay in the allocated area and show people how they work.
* To engage visitors and provide a warm welcome and friendly conversation
*To support families to engage with the interactives in the space
*To raise awareness of associated events and activities
