We’d love you to join us for a full-day adventure on the water supporting Defence young people to build confidence, teamwork, and connection through hands-on maritime experiences.

Complete the Confirmation Form within 7 days
✅ Your place is confirmed once the form is submitted
⚠️ If the form isn’t returned, your spot may be offered to another volunteer
🔒 Spots are limited and will close when full
📌 EOIs are reviewed as they are received. You will be contacted to confirm if you have a place or are on the Backup List.
👥 On the Day
• Meet at the marina for check-in
• Short, friendly briefing before departure
• Travel together on the boat throughout the day
• Ongoing support from AKKF staff throughout the activity
🧩 What We Will Do
• Fishing activities
• Scavenger hunt challenges
• Rope work and practical skills
• Boat cruising experience
• Group connection and teamwork activities
• Wellbeing and reflection conversations
Activities may vary depending on weather and conditions.
This helps young people build confidence, teamwork, resilience, and connection.
🤝 Your Role
• Welcome and support young people
• Help them feel safe, included, and comfortable
• Encourage participation (no pressure)
• Support teamwork during challenges and activities
• Assist with meals and breaks
• Facilitate connection and small group conversations
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment
• Always supervise with another adult
🛡️ Safety
• Your WWCC must be valid and verified
• All onboarding must be complete before attending
You may notice:
• Boat travel and open water environments
• Fishing equipment and active outdoor conditions
• Changing weather conditions
• Young people needing encouragement or reassurance
Water safety is managed by trained marine operators.
AKKF provides:
• Supportive staff at all times
• First Aid-trained team members
• Two-adult supervision
• Pre-event volunteer briefing
• Qualified marine supervision

• Enclosed, non-slip shoes
• Comfortable outdoor clothing
• Warm layers
• Hat and sunscreen
• Water bottle
• Light rain jacket (recommended)
Food may be provided (please let us know any dietary needs)
