We’d love you to join us for a unique day supporting Defence young people as they experience a day in the life of a Navy Cadet, building teamwork, discipline, and confidence.

📌 EOIs are reviewed as they are received. You will be contacted to confirm if you have a place or are on the Backup List.
👥 On the Day
• Meet at Parap Pool Carpark for group departure
• Travel together by bus to the base
• Short, structured briefing before activities begin
• Ongoing support from AKKF staff throughout the day
🧩 What We Will Do
• Team building and leadership challenges
• Knot tying and practical skill sessions
• Phonetic alphabet activities
• Marching and drill basics
• Obstacle course challenges
• Naval-themed games and trivia
• Watch cadet demonstrations (ceremonial drill, skill at arms and more)
• Wellbeing and mental health session
Activities may vary depending on group needs and base schedule.
This helps young people build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and connection.
🤝 Your Role
• Welcome and support young people
• Help them feel safe, included, and comfortable
• Encourage participation (no pressure)
• Support transitions between activity stations
• Assist with breaks, lunch, and check-ins
• Support Chat Groups and positive discussions
• Help maintain a safe, structured environment
• Always supervise with another adult
🛡️ Safety
• Your WWCC must be valid and verified
• All onboarding must be complete before attending
You may notice:
• Outdoor activity areas
• Structured drills and physical challenges
• Group movement and base environment
• Young people with varying confidence levels
AKKF provides:
• Supportive staff at all times
• First Aid-trained team members
• Two-adult supervision
• Pre-event volunteer briefing

🚗 Travel
🚌 All volunteers and young people will travel together by bus.

Direct travel to site is not available due to base access requirements.
If getting to the meeting point is difficult, let us know — we’re happy to talk through options with you.

• Sun-safe comfortable clothing
🍔 BBQ lunch will be provided (GF, vegan, and vegetarian options available — please note surfaces may not be fully gluten free)
