🎮 CONNECT Games (12–18)

Support young people to connect, collaborate and build confidence through games.

CONNECT Games is a high-energy online session for young people aged 12–18, using interactive games to build teamwork, communication and positive peer connection.

🎮 What You’ll Be Supporting

As a volunteer, you’ll help create a fun, inclusive and well-managed space where participants feel comfortable engaging and connecting with others.

Sessions are:

• Fast-paced and interactive
• Focused on teamwork, communication and positive competition
• Designed to keep young people engaged and socially connected

🌐 About CONNECT

CONNECT sessions help young people stay safe, connected and supported between camps and activity days.

💻 What You’ll Need

• 🌐 Stable internet connection
• 🤫 Quiet, private space
• 💻 Computer or laptop (preferred)
• 🎥 Zoom downloaded and ready

🤝 Your Role as a Volunteer

You will join as a Co-Host alongside an AKKF staff member and play an important role in supporting both the session and the young people.

You will:

• 👀 Monitor participant behaviour and chat
• 🚪 Manage the waiting room
• 💻 Help with basic tech support
• 🧠 Keep an eye on emotional wellbeing
• 🎤 Support engagement and participation
• 🤗 Step in to support individuals if needed
• 📸 Take attendance screenshots

You are there to help ensure the session runs smoothly, safely and remains engaging for all participants.

📋 What to Expect on the Day

⏱ Before (15 mins prior)
• Join early for a quick pre-brief with staff
• Run through the session plan and any key notes

🎮 During (45 mins)
• Welcome participants
• Support activities and encourage engagement
• Help maintain energy and participation
• Monitor behaviour and wellbeing
• Follow the Rule of 3 at all times

🏁 After
• Help wrap up the session
• Stay for a short debrief with staff

🛡 Safeguarding

Your role is key to maintaining a safe space.

Always:

• Follow the Rule of 3
• Keep your camera on
• Maintain a professional environment
• Raise any concerns immediately

Never:

• Be alone 1:1 with a young person
• Ignore signs of distress
• Allow inappropriate behaviour or chat
