We’d love you to join us for a day exploring the stunning Blue Mountains while supporting Defence young people to connect, build confidence, and enjoy a shared outdoor adventure.

Reply within 48 hours
- Confirm your spot
Complete the Confirmation Form within 7 days
✅ Your place is confirmed once the form is submitted
⚠️ If the form isn’t returned, your spot may be offered to another volunteer
🔒 Spots are limited and will close when full
📌 EOIs are reviewed as they are received. You will be contacted to confirm if you have a place or are on the Backup List.
👥 On the Day
• Short, friendly briefing before young people arrive
• Meet the team and go through the plan together
• Travel via bus (if selected) or meet onsite
• Ongoing support from AKKF staff throughout the day
🧩 What We Will Do
• Ride the Scenic Railway (steep railway experience)
• Travel on the Cableway into the valley
• Experience the Skyway with glass-floor views
• Explore rainforest boardwalks
• Group activities and connection time
• Wellbeing and reflection session
Activities may vary depending on weather and group needs.
This helps young people build confidence, resilience, and positive connection through shared experiences in nature.
🤝 Your Role
• Welcome and support young people
• Help them feel safe, included, and comfortable
• Encourage participation (no pressure)
• Assist with transitions between attractions
• Support group movement through the venue
• Encourage positive peer interactions
• Support wellbeing and reflection activities
• Always supervise with another adult
🛡️ Safety
• Your WWCC must be valid and verified
• All onboarding must be complete before attending
You may notice:
• Heights and scenic viewing platforms
• Outdoor terrain and walking paths
• Crowds and busy visitor areas
• Young people with varying comfort levels
AKKF provides:
• Supportive staff at all times
• First Aid-trained team members
• Two-adult supervision
• Pre-event volunteer briefing
🔒 Full program details are shared with confirmed volunteers only in line with safeguarding practices.

🚗 Travel
Please travel directly to the venue.
🚌 Optional Bus (Penrith):
• Departs 9:30 AM – PCYC Penrith
• Returns approx. 4:30 PM – same location
Please note: Parking at Scenic World is limited and mostly paid.
Free parking is available nearby but may require a short walk.
If getting there is difficult, let us know — we’re happy to talk through options with you.

• Comfortable walking clothing
• Enclosed shoes suitable for walking
• Hat and sunscreen
• Water bottle
• Weather-appropriate layers
Food may be provided (please let us know any dietary needs)
