We’d love you to join us for a fun and engaging day supporting Defence young people as they explore wildlife, learn about conservation, and connect with peers.

Complete the Confirmation Form within 7 days
✅ Your place is confirmed once the form is submitted
⚠️ If the form isn’t returned, your spot may be offered to another volunteer
🔒 Spots are limited and will close when full
📌 EOIs are reviewed as they are received. You will be contacted to confirm if you have a place or are on the Backup List.
👥 On the Day
• Short, friendly briefing before young people arrive
• Meet the team and go through the plan together
• Group movement throughout the zoo
• Ongoing support from AKKF staff throughout the day
🧩 What We Will Do
• Explore animal exhibits across Perth Zoo
• Participate in a guided zoo session (including LEGO creation)
• Learn about wildlife, habitats, and conservation
• Group connection and reflection activities
This helps young people build curiosity, confidence, resilience, and positive connection.
🤝 Your Role
• Welcome and support young people
• Help them feel safe, included, and comfortable
• Encourage participation and engagement
• Support safe movement around the zoo
• Assist with lunch and breaks
• Facilitate small group discussions and reflection
• Help create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment
• Always supervise with another adult
🛡️ Safety
• Your WWCC must be valid and verified
• All onboarding must be complete before attending
You may notice:
• Outdoor walking and varied terrain
• Crowds and public spaces
• Changing weather conditions
• Young people with varying confidence levels
AKKF provides:
• Supportive staff at all times
• First Aid-trained team members
• Two-adult supervision
• Pre-event volunteer briefing
🔒 Full program details are shared with confirmed volunteers only in line with safeguarding practices.
