Athletics / Coaching Youth Sports

Louisville Parks and Recreation community centers host youth athletics leagues throughout the year. Whether you love volleyball, basketball, baseball, or just being active, we have a volunteer role for you! Coaches not only share their love of the game, they also help mentor our youth and teach teamwork, respect, and the importance of physical activity. 

Essential Volunteer Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help supervise teams during practice and games
  • Provide instruction to players with direction from the head coach
  • Assist in running drills during practice
  • Help with any related duties given by coaches and staff
  • Oversee team activities and administrative responsibilities
  • Be a positive role model and have fun!


  • Minimum age to volunteer in this position is 18 years old
  • Submit to a criminal record background check prior to volunteering
  • Some knowledge of the game and/or willingness to learn
  • Mandatory coaches training
  • Ability to efficiently coordinate practices and gameplay
  • Punctual, energetic, enthusiastic and organized

Time Commitment: 

  • 5 to 10 hours per week for the season (typically 3 months)
  • Coaches must be able to attend all practices and games
