Job Title: Housekeeping & Socialization Volunteer
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Summary: Volunteers who come to MCP between 12-4 each day to help with housekeeping & socializing are asked to help with light cleaning/chores around the shelter, and socializing our friendlier cats.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Helping with chores around the shelter: rotating and folding laundry, stocking sections, cleaning carriers, dishes, sweeping, taking out garbage/recycling
- Providing appropriate socialization to the friendlier cats we have in our care
- Communicating with other volunteers on how best to split up cleaning and socializing during their shared shift
- Asking the Volunteer Coordinator or a staff member which cats are appropriate to socialize and which ones aren't
- Spot cleaning small messes cats make in their room or cage
- Sharing any medical or behavioral concerns with staff
- Maintaining a professional relationship with all staff and volunteers
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Must have reliable transportation to the shelter
- Must have access to the internet and an email account
Training, Schedule, & Commitment
- 6-month minimum time commitment
- Availability for this shift is from 12:00-4:00 daily
