Volunteer Position Description
Job Title: Housekeeping & Socialization Volunteer
Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator
Summary: Housekeeping & Socialization Volunteers come to MCP between 12-4 each day to help with light cleaning/chores around the shelter, and socializing our friendlier shelter cats. Volunteers also have the opportunity for additional training to learn how to safely interact and help behavior cats living in the shelter.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Helping with chores around the shelter: rotating and folding laundry, stocking sections, cleaning carriers, dishes, sweeping, taking out garbage/recycling
- Providing appropriate socialization to the friendlier cats we have in our care
- Communicating with other volunteers on how best to split up cleaning and socializing during their shared shift
- Spot cleaning small messes cats make in their room or cage (vomit, spill water, etc.)
- Sharing any medical or behavioral concerns with staff
- Maintaining a professional relationship with all staff and volunteers
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Must have reliable transportation to the shelter
- Must have access to the internet and an email account
Training, Schedule, & Commitment
- 6-month minimum time commitment

Training is provided in a virtual orientation followed by an in-person tour/orientation before working independently

Commitment to volunteering for at least 6 months
- Availability for this shift is from 12:00-4:00 Sunday-Friday. Volunteers are able to arrive and leave anywhere in that window of time, and can sign up for shifts as often as they would like
