Volunteer Position Description

 

Job Title: Veterinary Assistant Volunteer

Reports to: Volunteer Coordinator & MCP Medical Team

Summary: The Veterinary Assistant Volunteer position supports the medical team by performing tasks related to medical and surgical care of shelter cats and public surgery cats.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning medical instruments
  • Cleaning cat cages
  • Wrapping surgical packs
  • Opening and labeling syringes
  • Other duties based on previous training and/or experience

  • Maintain a professional relationship with all other volunteers and staff

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Must have access to internet and an email account

Training, Schedule, and Commitment:

  • Training is provided in the Vet Assistant Volunteer handbook and new volunteers will complete at least one shadow shift with MCP's medical team

  • 6-month minimum time commitment overall (not consecutive)

  • Weekly shifts available Monday-Thursday AM and Monday-Wednesday PM

  • Shifts take place 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
