Virginia Master Naturalist Program - Alleghany Highlands Chapter


Thank you for your interest in the Virginia Master Naturalist Program. To be considered for membership in our organization and its Basic tTaining class, please complete the application, which can be accessed with the button to the right.

The Virginia Master Naturalist training class prepares you for certification in the Virginia Master Naturalist (VMN) Program. The VMN Program is a statewide service corps of volunteers providing education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities. Please click on this link and read "AH Potential Applicant Information 2022" before you complete your application. 

Our 2022 fall VMN offering is open for apllications now. Classroom sessions will be held Thursday evenings at 5:45 PM at Millboro Elementary School in Millboro,VA beginning on September 1 through November 17. The first field seesion is scheduled for September 10 near Union, WV. Details and additionally required field trips will be provided in detail to applicants.

Mission Statement

Mission Statement: The Virginia Master Naturalist program is a service corps of well-informed volunteers who provide education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Alleghany Highlands Chapter supports the state mission and works to benefit the region that we serve - Allegheny, Bath, Highland, and Rockbridge counties.  As a service organization, you will be able to volunteer for activities that include education, citizen science and stewardship.
