The Angelwood Adult Day Training Program is an art-based program that allows adults living with disabilities to develop skills that will help them gain more independence with the hopes of active employment in the future. We welcome volunteers to teach things like painting, music, art skills, gardening, yoga, basketball, tennis, sign language, and more! If you have a skill that you'd like to teach to our folks, we would love to make it happen! You can either bring in materials for the activity, or we can plan beforehand and Angelwood will have materials prepared.
These classes can occur anytime Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 2 PM (though mornings 9 am - 11 am are best!). Classes can be as often as you'd like them to be; anywhere from once a month to multiple times a week. Volunteers will be with trained staff at all times.
The Angelwood Community Explorers (A.C.E.) program provides young adults with a fun community outing with peers, going to places like Top Golf, Downtown St. Augustine, Jumbo Shrimp Baseball Games, bowling, and more!
These events occur once a month on weekends. Volunteers are responsible for supporting staff needs and of course, having fun! Volunteers will be with trained staff at all times.
Parents' Night Out (PNO) provides children with a fun night of activities including outdoor games, arts and crafts, and movies.
These events occur once a month on Saturday afternoons. Volunteers are responsible for supporting staff needs and of course, having fun! Volunteers will be with trained staff at all times.
Angelwood is occasionally in need of administrative support for things like data entry, stuffing/labeling envelopes for mailings, fundraising event prep, and more. In-office admin support is an as-needed opportunity.

Angelwood will occasionally look for volunteers to assist with front desk coverage. This opportunity is on an as-needed basis. Front desk volunteers will be responsible for answering the phone and directing phone calls, buzzing people in through the door, and alerting floor staff of ADT participant arrivals/pickups via walkie talkie. Volunteers can bring a laptop/book with them to keep themselves occupied during slow hours, or volunteers can request additional admin work to stay busy.
For volunteers who have specific time restraints (working full time, being in school, etc.), hosting a drive is the perfect way to get involved and give back to the Angelwood community! If you would like to host a drive at your school, place of work, business, or religious organization, please reach out to Sarina, Volunteer Coordinator for specific needs at that time. Drives can be held for any range of items - office supplies, paper products, art supplies, birthday supplies, gift cards, holiday supplies, canned food, thrift store donations, and so much more.
Maintenance and yard work are scheduled on an as-needed basis. Angelwood has 7 properties that are in constant need of maintenance, such as interior and exterior painting, fence repair, electric work, and more. If you have a skill you'd like to share with Angelwood, contact Sarina to find out how to get involved today.
The Angelwood Annual Celebration is Angelwood's largest fundraising event of the year. This year's event takes place on Saturday, August 17th. The event needs volunteer support for decor setup and preparation the day before, silent auction setup and decor setup the morning of, and several different volunteer jobs during the event, including registration, silent auction help, bid spotting, event breakdown, and more.
The Annual Clay Shoot Tournament is one of Angelwood's major fundraising events throughout the year. The tournament takes place mid-February each year. The tournament needs volunteer support for decor setup, registration, breakfast setup, lunch setup, and event breakdown.
Summer Day Camp is a place for children living with intellectual and developmental differences to have a fun and safe Summer program. Camp is filled with fun activities - from music to art, and games to water days. Volunteers for Summer Day Camp will "buddy" up with one of the campers for the day and help with tasks such as setting up/breaking down activities, helping with snacks/lunch, and of course, having fun!
For groups with 20+ individuals, we are happy to host a Day of Service at one of the 7 Angelwood locations, either at the Adult Day Training Center, Angelwood Thrift Store, or one of the community group homes, depending on our need at the time. A Day of Service typically consists of general maintenance tasks, such as interior painting, light yardwork/landscaping, pressure washing, exterior cleaning, etc.

Corporate groups, businesses, and religious organizations are welcome to host third-party events for our Angelwood individuals. This could look like hosting a fun outing for our Adult Day Training participants to come play games with your staff, hosting a "supported employment" workshop for our folks to learn basic job skills from your employees, hosting a seasonal celebration for a specific holiday, hosting an outing for one of our group homes, and so much more!
