Mealtime Assistance
Food is a very important component in our quality of life, and some of our Long Term Care residents and hospital patients are having to eat cold food because they need help with their meal and staff time is limited. Mealtime Assistants can help by opening containers and, for some residents, feeding. With all residents they assist, they provide a more welcome experience by providing company and conversation during the meal. Requires completion of AHS Mealtime Assistance Training which needs to be renewed every three years.
Shifts can be quite flexible as to time of the day and day of the week since assistance is required for three meals a day Monday through Sunday; timing is set by the times at which the meals are served.
