Palliative Care
Provide comfort and support to patients or residents and their families in advancing illness and death. Requires completion of a 2-day Palliative Care Training provided by Volunteer Resources.
Volunteers provide support leading up to and during the last stages of death. Volunteer support shifts for vigils are requested as they are needed and on an on-call basis. As such, they can be any day of the week or any time of the day. Once a need is established, there can be a few shifts in a row until the support is no longer needed. Acceptance of shifts is based on the volunteers' availability.
